Spike

July 13, 2014

The other morning, from our kitchen window, I saw a hedgehog cross our back garden, a rare sight in broad daylight but this was an unusually bold and jaunty little chap.  My youngest granddaughter was delighted when I told her about him half-an-hour later…

SPIKE

For my younger grandchildren

You would’ve loved him:

Across the lawn in a flash,

A beady-eyed

Grunting

Snouty-grin dash –

Spike, the speedy hedgehog.

You’d have made him your mate

If you hadn’t been late;

Cried “Run, Spike, run!”

Such whizzing

Twizzing

Fizzing fun…

But wait:

Who’s that at the gate

On a rocket roller-skate…?

SPIKE, that’s who!

  1. Delightful Paul. What a loving, fun Grandpa you are. :o)

  2. Thanks, Pat. How lucky we both are to have such wonderful grandchildren. Congrats again on little Madison’s arrival – she’s gorgeous! And very best wishes for your house-move.

    Take care,

    Paul
