Still Kicking

April 26, 2015

Okay, I’ve been silent for a while, but I’m still kicking, still writing!   Here are three of my shorter recent poems. The last was written after visiting Erddig Hall, near Wrexham, Wales, one of our finest historic homes, now owned by the National Trust.

Have a great Sunday, everyone.

Tangled toads at water’s edge,

male mallards vie for a female –

a girl and her granny laugh.

phone lines dip in drizzle

chimneypot jackdaws cackle,

a flat-pack awaits

A conker in a prickly shell,

no phone or post now in this hell,

he rages at a pram wheeled by.

Entrepreneurial this Squire is not,

blaming all for his sorry lot.
