Charlotte Digregorio’s Writer’s Blog, January 13, 2020

January 13, 2020

Hi Folks,

Well, what a cracking start the New Year has got off to for me!  My poem ‘Mothballs’ is today featured on Charlotte Digregorio’s wonderful Writer’s Blog.

Written in January 2016 and first published in my collection Twin Dakotas: poetry and  prose (Cestrian Press, 2016), ‘Mothballs’ is a fond memory from my early teens roughly sixty years ago.

Here’s a link, if you’d care to check it out:

Wishing you all a great 2020,

  1. That’s very nicely done Paul; bravo!

    • Hi John, ‘Mothballs’ is a fond memory from my early teens. Strange to think my dad was only 18 himself when he signed up with the RAF in ’41, and proudly pulled on that blue uniform for the first time…

      Many thanks for your comment – much appreciated,

  2. sweet nostalgia and a lovely poem. These words stayed with me, ‘secrets I was never meant to know…;

  3. Many thanks, Padmini, I’m delighted you like ‘Mothballs’. Truthfully, I couldn’t resist reading those old letters though doing so gave me a rather guilty feeling. Yes, that line – “secrets I was never meant to know” – is the one that adds spice, I agree.

    Hope 2020 has got off to a good start for you.

    Take care,

  4. Dear Paul,

    Wanted to ask if Proletaira still accepts submissions. It says, ‘Submissions are closed’. I had messaged the editor, but no response.

    • Sorry, Padmini, I’m as puzzled as you over what’s going on with Proletaria, with no issue since 02/01/20 (‘three monostichs by D.W.Golden’). I’m keeping my fingers crossed submissions re-open soon. Please let me know if you hear anything.

      Have a good weekend,
